Man cheats friend of Rs 6.4 lakh

Surat: An offence has been registered at Sarthana police station against Nirav Thummar for forging his friend’s signature and swindling Rs1.90 lakh from the latter’s bank account. He had also taken Rs4.5 lakh from Manish Solanki in November 2016 for business, but had failed to repay it.

Thummar managed to get a chequebook of Manish Solanki who maintained an account in Varachha Co-Operative Bank Ltd’s Kargil Chowk branch. He forged the signature of Solanki on a few cheques and transferred Rs1,90, 509 to some other person’s account.
The victim’s sister Kavita Solanki registered the police complaint against the accused at Sarthana police station on Thursday. A police officer said, “We are trying to get the cheque leaves that have the forged signatures. The accused will be arrested once we collect evidence against him.”
