JAIPUR: A three-phase action plan is being prepared by the PHED to address the
water crisis caused by the scanty rainfall in the state. PHED minister B D Kalla informed this in the assembly.
He said the department was directed to continue
water supply by tankers till August-September in the first phase. In September, a review would be held on the availability of surface water based on monsoon and will decide on the next course of action.
The extension of the tube wells, hand pumps and pipeline will continue from October to March next year. Control rooms have been set up to attend to water-related issues, he said. He said, from January this year, 4,420 hand pumps, 1,907 tube wells have been sanctioned and currently 830 hand pumps and 700 tube wells have been completed. Bisalpur dam had only water till August 31 and if the monsoon fails to pick up momentum, others sources had to be explored. Currently, 330 MLD of water is supplied to Jaipur city, 65 MLA to Jaipur rural 275 MLD to
Ajmer and 2 MLD to Dausa.
He said Rs 115 crore has been allocated for Jaipur meet the requirement of digging tube wells, transfer lines, water by tankers and other works.
