The footage of Mr Gee has caused a stir on social media, with many questioning where taxpayers money goes.

'And we (the taxpayers) pay the lazy sod to do his job!' one person said on Twitter.

'With people on the unemployment queue unable to be given a chance, we see MPs doing this,' said another.

'Prob on 150k a year. Proving that these scumbags are the most overpaid workers in the country.'

Mr Gee, the former Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union organiser, has been in Parliament since 2014.

He told The Advertiser to 'report on real news' when the solitaire footage came to light.

Mr Gee is the first MP to be caught playing a game online since the live broadcast was introduced in 2017.

Mr Wingard said South Australians expect their MPs to be engaged in the process as it was their chance to scrutinise the Budget.

'You're there to do a job, you're there to ask questions. We've got all the officials are there ready to take questions and it just shows he isn't interested in what he's doing,' Mr Wingard said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Mr Gee for comment.
