FOXBORO — The New England Revolution honored Kevin Moreira, of Raynham, as the Hero of the Match at the team’s home game on Wednesday, July 17, against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Moreira was recognized during a pregame ceremony for his service in the United States Army and continuing his duty back home by helping support veteran families across the state. He had a sideline view of the Revs pregame warmups and enjoyed the game from the Putnam Club.

Moreira served 22 years in the United States Army, including two deployments to the Middle East for Operation Iraqi Freedom where he earned the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and the Combat Action Badge. Now in the Army Reserves and Massachusetts Chapter president of the Veterans Brotherhood VMC, Moreira continues to give back by fundraising for veterans, military service members, and their families. He has also served seven terms as VFW Post 2125 Commander in Bridgewater.
