Share market update: Metal shares mixed; Vedanta dips over 2%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading on a mixed note in Friday's morning session.

Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 2.78 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (up 1.87 per cent), NMDC (up 1.80 per cent) and Jindal Steel & Power (up 1.52 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.

Vedanta (down 2.42 per cent), Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 1.38 per cent), MOIL (down 0.63 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (down 0.53 per cent) were trading with losses.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.18 per cent down at 2681.65 around 10:33 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 28.90 points at 11,223.25 while the BSE Sensex was down 131.12 points at 37,699.86.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Motors, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, Vedanta, Dish TV India, PNB, SAIL, IDFC First Bank and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded securities on the NSE.
