See The Ford F-150 Electric Prototype Tow Over 1 Million Pounds

America’s best-selling truck is going electric. Ford has already announced plans to launch a zero-emission version of the F-150, and now they have taken that idea to a whole new level, by showcasing a prototype and putting their money where their mouth is.

In a surprising demonstration of sheer force, the electric F-150 has towed a whopping 1.25 million pounds (567 tons). The vehicle has performed the mind-blowing task in complete silence, hooking up to 10 double-decker rail cars and 42 2019 F-150s, in the presence of several owners of different iterations of the pickup truck.

“We’ve confirmed we are bringing an all-electric F-150 to market. Now, we’re showing you the capability you asked for by having it tow more than 1 million pounds. This is Built Ford Tough”, the automaker based in Dearborn said in the description of the video that shows the impressive ability of the pickup truck, while also advising owners not to tow beyond a vehicle’s capacities specified in the manual.

Ford’s ventures in the electrified pickup segment will begin next year, when the new-gen F-150 will arrive in the market. It will launch as a hybrid that will go on sale in 2020, which will be joined, eventually, by the zero-emission version. The car company didn’t say when the electric F-150 will be introduced, but they did confirm that the prototype depicted on video below will help them bring it to dealers.
