Vadodara: A day after his TikTok video went viral, crime branch police sub-inspector (SPI), Arun Mishra was on Friday transferred to the traffic branch by city police commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut.
Mishra will also face a departmental inquiry for his act of indiscipline.
DCP (crime) Jaydeepsinh Jadeja conducted an inquiry about the video wherein Mishra was seen lip-syncing to a Bollywood song. “Mishra furnished his reply on Friday. He said that he had made this video towards end of 2018 and uploaded it. He claimed that he made the video for his son,” Jadeja told TOI.
Mishra also told the investigators that after TikTok got banned in India some months ago, he removed the app from his mobile and deleted the videos.
Rule number 353 of Gujarat Police Manual’s Part I has guidelines regarding how the cops in uniforms should behave.
The inquiry conducted by Jadeja revealed that by recording such video in uniform at the police station, Mishra had flouted the guidelines and conducted indiscipline.
“When he shot the video, he was posted in City police station which covers a communally sensitive area. A cop can’t be seen shooting and uploading such videos when on duty. Police officials have to maintain the dignity of the unity too,” a senior official said.
Mishra also said in his statement that someone circulated this old video with an intention of harassing him.
An inquiry has also been given to ACP (cyber cell) to find out who circulated the video and made it viral. “We are making efforts to find out who made the video viral. Also, departmental action will be taken against Mishra,” Gahlaut said
Police officials said that if probe reveals that some policeman did it, then action will taken against that cop too.
Jadeja on Friday submitted the inquiry report to Gahlaut who decided to transfer Mishra to the traffic branch.
