New Delhi, BJP Working President J P Nadda on Friday hailed the Modi government for completing the first 50 days in its second term and said the BJP-led NDA regime has taken several ‘revolutionary’ measures to help farmers, rural poor and empower women.
Presenting a report card of Modi Govt 2.0, he said normally the government(s) do so on completion of 100 days, but “we have done it at the halfway mark”. Referring to compulsory retirement orders served to some senior IRS officials, he said the Modi government
has given a clear message that this regime has ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards corruption. The observation from Mr Nadda comes on a day, Congress chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said that – “ED, CBI, Income Tax have become frontal departments of BJP in their unending quest to persecute and prosecute”.
Interestingly, the Enforcement Directorate on Friday questioned former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with a money laundering case. Interestingly, in matters related to political developments in Karnataka, Mr Nadda said: “The BJP is a party committed to provide clean administration” and maintained that the JD(S)-Congress regime in the southern state had fallen largely due to ‘its own reasons’ and BJP has got into motion there only after the fall of H D Kumaraswamy dispensation.
“Some decisions taken are drastic, the direction to the process of governance given in last 50 days is different from the direction previous governments have given in last 50 years,” Mr Nadda said in what can be termed as his maiden media conference after taking charge as immediate sub-ordinate to party chief Amit Shah. In fact, the post of Working President in BJP is also rare and Mr Nadda – by all indication – is now likely to take over as new BJP chief by January 2020.
Accompanied by union ministers Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal and party’s office bearers, he said the Modi government has taken steps from ‘water to moon’ to help the people and take country’s prestige to a new height. As BJP Working President Nadda had addressed media at BJP office on the day, four TDP Rajya Sabha MPs joined the saffron party.
Mr Nadda cited various decisions of the Modi government and referred to flagship schemes such as tap water to every household by 2024 and further expansion of rural roads network. He said the government’s decision to give pension to small traders and scholarships to kids of martyrs who were from paramilitary forces were unique. PM Sadak Yozana has been a major move as the road infrastructures have suffered during UPA dispensation, Mr Nadda said.
He also mentioned about Modi government’s commitment to achieve 5 trillion economy. Referring to compulsory retirement orders served to some senior officials, he said the Modi government has given a clear message that this regime has ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards corruption. The rural roads are also being linked to market and this will help the villagers get involved in the process of movement towards economic prosperity, he said.
Mr Nadda also referred to the major anti-terror legislative measures taken by the government in the ongoing Parliament session. He said government has also taken measures to protect small time investors. “Steps have been taken to protect people from such economic frauds,” he said. The Modi government for its second term was sworn in on May 30. Mr Nadda also referred to major labour reforms undertaken by the government.
On the late sittings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha also showing enthusiasm in passing Bills,Mr Nadda said all these only reflect the true ‘political will’ of the Modi government.
