Vadodara: A day after M S University issued notification for the forthcoming students union elections, student outfits have started declaring their candidates for the top posts of MSU Students Union (MSUSU).
On Friday, the All Gujarat Student Group (AGSG) and the Vidyarthi Vikas Sangh (VVS) declared their joint candidates for the posts of MSUSU general secretary (GS) and vice-president (VP).
While Rakesh Panjabi has been declared as the joint candidate for the post of GS, Kaksha Patel has been declared as candidate for the post of VP. Jayesh Prajapati has been declared as candidate for the post of faculty general secretary of university’s largest faculty – the Faculty of Commerce.
Interestingly, VVS last year had an alliance with ‘Jai Ho’ group which broke up after the elections. In the run-up to the forthcoming elections, the ‘Jai Ho’ group and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) are likely to forge an alliance which was being worked out on Friday.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) which once used to have a major say in student politics however seems to be little prepared for the forthcoming elections.
In fact, student leaders linked with ABVP on Friday even demanded that the date of the elections should be postponed. MSU had on Thursday issued notification for MSUSU polls which will be held on August 10.
