A day after a ruckus at a college in Hoogly district of West Bengal allegedly by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) student wing, party MLA Prabir Ghosal along with TMC district president Dilip Jadav on Thursday visited the college and apologised.
The incident occurred at Nabagram Hiralal Paul College in Konnagar near Hooghly on Wednesday when members of the TMC allegedly attacked students and teachers for not saying 'Mamata Banerjee Zindabad' and 'Trinamool Zindabad'. Professor Subrata Chatterjee sustained injuries on his head and face in the attack. This was not the first time that teachers professors were assaulted in Bengal. Interestingly, this is the first time when a party took the onus and apologised.
On Thursday, Professor Subrata got a call from CM Mamata Banerjee who assured him that these people will be put to task. As the professor entered the principal's room, MLA Probir Ghosal apologised to him moreover district president touched his feet and said sorry to him. With further astonishment, MP Kalyan Banerjee conveyed his apologies to the professor.
Meanwhile, two people were arrested for assaulting the professor.
