The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, on Wednesday launched an induction programme spanning over two weeks to help first-year engineering students adjust to the new environment and bond with other students and faculty members.
The objective of the programme is to introduce students to various aspects of the college and prepare them to achieve academic excellence.
Rajeev Sangal, former Director of IIT-BHU and IIIT-Hyderabad, was the chief guest.
NIT Director N.V. Ramana Rao presented a note on the history and achievements of the institute. He shared the placement statistics and highlighted the collaboration with international universities, MOU with companies, projects and resource centres.
Chief guest Prof. Sangal, in his keynote address, said India’s technical education system has grown manifold offering opportunities in education and training in a range of trades and disciplines at different levels and students should be prepared to grab these opportunities. The students should work on the quality of their character, which would help them move towards success.
Welcoming the new entrants, NIT-Warangal Registrar Goverdhan Rao complimented them for securing admission in the prestigious institute. He advised them not to get involved in any unlawful activities.
L.R.G. Reddy, dean, Student Welfare, said academic merits do not hold any importance without a good personality. Inclusion of value education in the curriculum was necessary, he added.
As part of the induction programme, NIT-Warangal has lined up a series of activities, including literary, cultural and physical activities, discussions, and lectures from eminent personalities, social activists and entrepreneurs.
More than 1,000 students and their parents attended the programme.
