‘Measures taken for welfare of railway employees’

₹2 lakh each has been paid to family members of 28 deceased employees, says official

Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division of South Western Railway Rajesh Mohan has said that the division has taken various measures for the welfare of railway employees, including assistance to family members of 28 railway employees who passed away.

Speaking at the 64th Railway Week celebrations at Chalukya Railway Institute here on Wednesday evening, Mr. Mohan said that an assistance of ₹2 lakh each was paid to family members of the 28 employees.

He said an officer has been nominated to address the grievances of Woman Track Maintainers of the division.

During 2018-19, the division achieved a loading of 30.754 million tonnes of freight, he said and thanked the railway staff and officers for their contribution in the achievements of Hubballi division. Mr. Mohan said that Hubballi division had bagged efficiency shields for its achievements in Accounts, Commercial, Electrical, Engineering, Mechanical, Security, S&T Departments and consequently won the overall efficiency shield in the 64th Railway Week Celebration at the Zonal Level held on Tuesday. Hubballi Railway Station was also declared as the best maintained major station in the railway zone, he said.

Awards presented

On the occasion, Mr. Mohan and other senior officials presented 170 individual awards to the railway staff and officers in recognition of their outstanding performance during 2018-19. This apart from nine group awards and twelve efficiency shields like best maintained railway station, best maintained office, best maintained health unit, and others were presented.

As part of the railway week celebrations, cultural programmes were also held.
