2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe Spotted On The Streets Of Tuscaloosa

Mercedes unveiled the redesigned GLE last year and now the company is putting the finishing touches on the upcoming GLE Coupe.

Recently spotted in Tuscaloosa, Alabama by Carscoops reader William, the images show a lightly camouflaged GLE 63 Coupe.

Looking far more aggressive than its predecessor, the redesigned model adopts a prominent Panamericana grille. It sits in between sweptback headlights with angular LED accents.

Further below, there’s an evolutionary front bumper with a large air intake that features horizontal ribs on the outside edges. We can also see a front splitter with recessed accents.

The shape of the crossover remains largely the same, but the model has been equipped with streamlined bodywork and more aggressive side skirts. There are also more body color components and these contrast with the black wheels, mirror caps and window surrounds.

The rear end is heavily camouflaged, but there’s a new tailgate with an integrated spoiler. The model also sports a larger diffuser and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.

Previous spy photos have shown the cabin will carryover from the GLE and this means we can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system. Drivers will also find a new steering wheel, higher quality materials and a more modern design.

Under the hood, there will be a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine in two states of tune. The base model should produce around 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. There will also be a more powerful S variant developing around 603 hp (450 kW / 612 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque.
