This is the terrifying moment three masked men burst into a family's living room with machetes to rob them as they sat and watched TV.

After being threatened with the huge blades, the group pushed the family members into a small room before ransacking the house of valuables.

The incident caught on CCTV at a home in the township of Bandar Saujana near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In footage taken inside the home, a family of eight were seen relaxing in their living room watching TV as a group of masked men appear from near the stair.

The intruders then threatened the people, including a children, sitting on the sofa with the long blades, and then gestured for them to get inside a small room.

They then forced all the family members, aged between 12 and 70, into the side room and held them captive as one of the crew ransacked ornaments and jewellery  lying about the living room.

According to police, one woman was taken upstairs and ordered to hand over her jewellery and valuable items.

After taking everything they wanted, the robbers tied up the family and left them in the downstairs room before escaping. 

Following a preliminary investigation, the district police spokesperson Azizan Tukiman said that the men robbed over £7,965 worth of valuables.

Mr Tukiman also said there were in fact six gang members involved but only three were seen.

They reportedly robbed the home at 9.41pm on 23rd July and 'tied up seven victims in a room downstairs'. 

Mr Tukiman said: 'No one was hurt in the robbery. The victims managed to free themselves and asked a neighbour for help once the suspects left the scene.

'We dusted the house for prints, but could not find any as the suspects were wearing gloves.'

According to reports, the police have not yet managed to identify any suspects and they are appealing for members of the public to come forwards with any information.
