The shocked Sydney-based Sandra (pictured with Mikey) said she was delighted to record the gorgeous moment after 'days' of missing her baby Mikey speaking when the camera was out
'He had said hello once before so I got out the camera the next day and tried to capture it, but he didn't say it that day.
'However, he did the day after that,' the delighted mother added.
The video shows the baby as his mother tries to coax her son into speaking.
'Come on Snuffles, say hello,' Sandra can be heard saying on the YouTube clip.
It takes a few seconds of laughing and making brief noises before the 16-week-old says hello.
But when he does and after a few attempts, Mikey clear as day repeats the word his mother has said.
'Is this some sort of record?,' Sandra joked.
There have been cases of other mothers in the world who have said they heard their baby speaking as young as nine weeks old.
However, the norm is for babies to start saying single words at around six months old, before they slowly and steadily pick up more words for their vocabulary.
Sometime between 18 months and two years old, a baby will start to form two to four-word sentences.

The mum-of-three told FEMAIL that since her now-five-month-old began making noises, she has been repeatedly saying 'hello' and speaking to him.
Where possible, she has also prompted him to copy her and speak back.
'My other two took forever to talk,' she said. 'But Mikey loves to babble on.'
