Minister Prashanth Reddy asks women to be financially empowered

Minister for Roads and Buildings V. Prashanth Reddy called upon women to be financially empowered and avail themselves of benefits under government schemes.

Participating in a cheque distribution programme under Stree Nidhi scheme at Bheemgal in Balkonda constituency on Thursday, he wanted women to choose a livelihood making use of the financial support extended by the State government. Pointing out that of the 2,006 women who joined self help groups in the town, only 420 were sanctioned loan under Stree Nidhi. The target is to provide ₹1.95 crore to them to start small businesses and ₹45 lakh has already been sanctioned to 122 women till date,” he said.

The remaining ₹1.50 crore would be provided to 300 women to establish self-employment units.
