Mission Kakatiya to figure

The International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage (ICID) has accepted three technical papers on best irrigation practices in Telangana for their presentation at the 3rd World Irrigation Forum (WIF3) meet to be held at Bali, Indonesia, in September this year.

According to officials of the Irrigation Department, engineers from the State sent proposals for presentation of the four technical papers sent to the event and scrutiny committee has accepted three. In a communication sent to the department, WIF3 executive Vijay K. Labhsetwar informed that three papers from Telangana were approved by the scrutiny committee for presentation at the meet to be held in the first week of September. The papers are: Mission Kakatiya — Restoration of Minor Irrigation Sources: A Flagship Programme Undertaken by Government of Telangana, authored by OSD in CMO Sridhar Rao Deshpande, and K. Shyamsunder, Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation; Nagarjunasagar Project — Modernisation for Improving Water Management Through Warabandi (On-Off) System, by S. Suneel, retired Chief Engineer and V. Narsimha, Chief Engineer, of the project; Tail to Head — A Technique in Improving Water User Efficiency and Productivity in Sriramsagar Project, by B. Shanker, Chief Engineer and Nagabhushan Rao, Executive Engineer of the project.

Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi and Engineers-in-Chief C. Muralidhar and B. Nagender Rao complimented the engineers for selection of their technical papers for presentation at the international meet.
