Second man charged with murder over 2007 death of Cindy Crossthwaite

A second man has been charged with murder over the 2007 death of Melton South mother Cindy Crossthwaite.

Ms Crossthwaite, 41, was found dead in the hallway of her Andrews Street home as her 13-month-old son lay just metres away in a locked room, on June 20, 2007.

On Thursday morning homicide squad detectives arrested a 50-year-old Taylors Lakes man.

He's since been charged with one count of murder and is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.

It follows the arrest of Ms Crossthwaite's estranged husband Emil Petrov, 55, last week at his Tottenham workplace, 12 years after the mother-of-three was found beaten to death.

Ms Crossthwaite was last seen dropping her nine-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son off at Coburn Primary School in Richard Road, Melton South, just a couple of blocks from their home, about 9am on the day of her death.

After being unable to raise her on the phone all day, her father Philip went to her home where he discovered her badly beaten body.

The breakthroughs in the high-profile case comes two years after police announced a $1 million reward for information to help catch the killer, which police said remained on offer.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
