The Bhopal Municipal Corporation administration has asked the zonal officers to personally inspect the sites especially in MP Nagar area and to ensure that handcarts should be placed at pre-defined areas allotted for them and cleanliness norms should be followed.
It has to be mentioned that monsoon season brings in resulting in water-logging in nullahs in many areas and in such a scenario encroachments near sewage adds to the problem.
Inspection is also being carried out in Kolar suburbs, areas near Ashoka Garden Nehru Nagar zone-6 the sewer near Bhopal talkies near Saifia College etc. The area near Ashoka Gardens, Bhopal Talkies and MP Nagar faces the worst problems due to water logging as they are accident prone areas and experiences the heaviest flow of traffic.
Anti-encroachment drive of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is very aggressive especially in MP Nagar and claimed to remove more than 260 illegal vendors. Vendors, hawkers and illegal parking occupy the major stretch in these areas. Though locals claim that regular monitoring is required as the vendors illegally occupied spaces on road sides after the inspection squad drive visits and are seen running their business all this is reason for heavy encroachment in the area in evenings.
In a major anti-encroachment drive BMC anti-encroachment squad removed encroachment from various areas at MP Nagar zone 2. On Wednesday acting on complaints received from CM helpline handcarts were removed from Azad Market. Around 25 handcarts were removed during the drive and shops encroachment in pavements, street carts were removed from Ashoka Garden area.
Encroachments were also removed from Apsara talkies area and one street cart was seized. Around 15 handcarts from 100 quarters are and Hanuman Mandir area was also seized during the drive. In Kotra area behind Akrirti Garden two JCB machies were also seized engaged in illegal construction over sewage.
Two Sanchi Parlours encroached in Kolkata Transport Nagar area were also seized. In Lala Ghati Bairagarh area three handcarts were seized by BMC anti-encroachment squad. BMC anti-encroachment squad is also clearing up sewer lines by removing encroachments. It is being observed that due to the encroachment the green belt area also gets occupied and this is also resulting in water logging affecting the nearby locals. Moreover, the construction activities out even on the sewer line also being obstructed resulting in water-logging from the sewage.
