Drug peddler held with heroin
Division 4 police have arrested Savtantar Jain of Purana Bazaar with 20g heroin. The accused was arrested near Ved Mandir, Daresi, when he was headed for delivering the consignment to a customer. A case has been registered.
Beer bar owner, manager booked
Division 5 police have booked owner Jaskaran Singh and managers Atul Malik and Surjeet Kumar of Papa Whisky, Malhar Road, for selling hookah. Police commissioner Sukhchain Singh Gill under Section 144 of the IPC has banned the sale of hookah in the city.
Woman dies in road accident
Physically disabled Anita Rani (50) of Kuliewal village died in a road accident near Jeevan Nagar chowk on Monday night. The woman, who worked in a factory, was returning home when she was hit by a trolley truck. The police have arrested accused trolley driver Harjinder Singh.
