JAIPUR: The state, reeling under a dry spell, is likely to receive widespread
rainfall Friday onwards. Jaipur Met office in its forecast issued on Tuesday said that majority of the places in the state would witness a good rainfall July 26 onwards. Prior to this, scattered rainfall would continue in the eastern and western parts of the state.
In its
monsoon forecast, Jaipur met office issued a heavy rainfall warning for the districts that include Ajmer, Alwar , Banswara, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Dausa, Bundi, Kota, Pratapgarh, Chittorgarh, Sirohi, Udaipur, Rajsamand and Dungarpur on July 26. “This season so far has brought mild showers and heavy rainfall is still awaited for a long time now. Ongoing conditions and humidity levels suggest that many places in the state would witness widespread and heavy rainfall
Friday onwards,” said an officer with the Jaipur met office. Mild to moderate showers continued in the state as Asind (Bhilwara) and Pushkar (Ajmer) witnessed a rainfall of 50mm each. Many places also witnessed rainfall varying from 30mm to 10mm.
People in Jaipur witnessed dry weather despite cloudy conditions. In the morning, a minimum temperature of 27.4 degree Celsius, almost two degree above the normal notch was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon as a maximum temperature of 39.2 degree Celsius, almost five degrees above the normal notch was recorded. People in Jaipur are already facing a drinking-water crisis with the water level of the Bisalpur Dam plunging low. It has been more than a week since Jaipur witnessed good showers, except some rainfall on the outskirts of the city.
In its forecast, Jaipur met office said that scattered rainfall would be witnessed in some parts of the state while in majority of the state, weather is likely to remain dry in the next 24 hours.
