Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 tipped to feature a new Touch Bezel and Bluetooth 5.0

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is known to be in the works for quite some time now. Recently, the alleged live images of the smartwatch giveaway the design in its full glory. Now, more details about the upcoming smartwatch surfaced online, courtesy of SamMobile. According to the report, Samsung is making up for ditching the rotating bezel by including a new Touch Bezel instead. This means users can use their fingers on the touch bezel to navigate through the UI, allowing for interactive user experience. The 44mm and 40mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 to measure 36 grams and 31 grams, respectively.

Furthermore, the 44mm and 40mm Aluminium Galaxy Watch Active 2 to sport a 1.4-inch and 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 360×360 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass DX+ layer. The casing is said to be built to MIL-STD-810G durability standards. It is expected to retain the same Exynos 9110 chipset. The Bluetooth and LTE models said to pack 4GB internal storage paired with 786MB and 1.5GB RAM, respectively. Both the models pack a 340mAh and 247mAh battery capacities, respectively. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is expected to come with ECG and fall detection features, now the latest report claims that Samsung has bumped the Photoplethysmography sensor up from four-point to an eight-point for improved accuracy.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 to have support for Bluetooth 5.0. This means it should offer more range, consumes less power, and the audio can be played to two Bluetooth devices at once. The Watch Active 2 will also be available in Stainless Steel and Aluminium finishes for both sizes. While black and silver colour options are said to be available for the entire range, Pink Gold will be offered for the 44mm and 40mm in Aluminium and Gold will be available for both sizes in Stainless Steel. Lastly, the LTE model is expected to be available in Stainless Steel. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a launch date yet, but going by the series of leaks, we might actually see it make an appearance at the Galaxy Note 10 launch on August 7th.
