PATIALA: The police have arrested two persons for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman in
Patiala on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The police have conducted the medical examination of the survivor and initiated further probe.
In her complaint, the survivor said that her husband took her to the Jaswal village bus stop and abandoned her there after she had a quarrel with him.
While she was moving towards Bhakhra canal, a bike-borne man stopped and asked her where she was going. The woman broke down and the man assured that he would take her to her relatives’ house.
While on the bike, she confided in the accused, who promised to marry her and took her to a room in Mallowal village. A friend of the accused also reached the room, where the two men physically tortured her and took turns raping her throughout the night.
The investigation officer in the case said: “The reports of the survivor’s medical examination are awaited. Both the accused were arrested within hours of the crime. They work as labourers and said that they did not know the survivor but have admitted to their crime. The survivor’s husband has also been informed and further investigation is underway.”
