Teenager run over by VMC garbage collection truck

Vadodara: A 13-year-old boy died after he was ran over by a garbage collection truck of Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Wednesday noon.
Muzammil Pathan, who studied in MES High School in Nagarwada, was returning to his home in Hathikhana around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. During the same time, the garbage collection truck coming from Salatwada knocked Pathan down. Eye-witnesses told police that Pathan was cycling on the side of the road, but the driver of the truck could not judge properly and knocked the teenager down as he was driving at a high speed.
The truck driver had fled from there after the accident, but a local had noticed the number of the vehicle and gave it to police. The boy had succumbed to his injuries on the spot, but he was taken to the hospital to confirm the death. Police officials said that they are likely to arrest the driver of the truck by Thursday morning. “We have received the details of the truck driver and we will arrest him either late on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning,” said a police official.
Cops said that they have taken statements of the eye-witnesses and the boy’s parents statement will be taken on Thursday as they were in grief on Wednesday.
