UP: Man held by anti-corruption team for accepting bribe in Kaushambi

ALLAHABAD: A team of anti-corruption wing of the UP police (Lucknow) on Wednesday arrested a naib moharrir (clerk), posted at Chail Nagar panchayat, red-handed while accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from one of the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantra Awas Yojna (PMAY) to release the first instalment.
The arrest was made near the house of Devanand - a resident of Krishna Nagar - located at Krishna Nagar under the limits of Puramufti police station of UP's Kaushambi district.
A case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act was lodged against the naib moharrir with Puramufti police station.

Lucknow superintendent of police (anti-corruption wing) Rajeev Mehrotra told TOI that one of the recipients of PMAY -- Mohd Haneef, a resident of Chial Khas (Pipri) -- had approached the anti-corruption wing three days back and alleged that naib moharrir, posted at Chail Nagar panchayat, was demanding Rs 10,000 in cash to release the first instalment.
The SP added that the anti-corruption team, led by inspector Shambhu Nath Tiwari, laid the trap and arrested the accused.
