“This is a sign of development of relations between the two countries,” Aliyev said as he received credentials of incoming Chinese ambassador Guo Min.
Previous to this year, Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency and China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism signed a memorandum of understanding. It was done aiming to grow Chinese group tourist numbers visiting Azerbaijan to 200,000 in the next few years.
In 2016, Azerbaijan made simpler the visa process for Chinese visitors in a bid to boost up tourism flows from China.
Aliyev spoke well about Sino-Azerbaijani relations, stating his meeting with the Chinese leadership in Beijing this April actually corroborated both countries’ interests in expanding bilateral exchanges.
He mainly lauded on financial cooperation, saying the recent arrival of a freight train from Xi’an in Azerbaijan emphasized the existence of good potential to capitalize on the achievements in the transport sector.
Ambassador Guo emphasized mutual support between the two nations.
