Gujarat: Schoolteacher arrested for showing porn to class V girls

RAJKOT: A 39-year-old primary school teacher was arrested for allegedly showing obscene videos and pictures to three class V girls of his school in Bhavnagar city on Tuesday.
Police arrested Jishant Makwana, a teacher at Ambica School since last 12 years, from the school premises.
According to police, complaint lodged by father of one of the girls, on Monday during lunch break, when three girls aged 11-12 years, were sitting in the classroom, Makwana came inside and closed the door. He then allegedly forced the girls to see porn videos clips and pictures on his mobile phone. When two of the girls opposed, he threatened to fail them in exam.
The girls after reaching home told their parents what had happened. Angered over Makwana’s behaviour, several parents thronged the school on Tuesday morning and ransacked the building. They also roughed up Makwana, before the school principal intervened and called the police.
The parents also complained that Makwana used to punish the children by forcing them to slap each other in front of the class. He also used to hit the students with steel scale. One of the students revealed that at times Makwana used to make them press his feet in the classroom.
Sub-inspector N C Malaviya of Bhavnagar C Division police station said that Makwana has been booked under IPC sections 354 (A) (making sexually coloured remarks); 332 (causing hurt) and under various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.
President of the City Primary Education Committee Nilesh Rawal said that they have sought strict action against Makwana and demanded that he be terminated.
