Melania Trump had more than a few people scratching their heads on Wednesday when she announced she was planning for Christmas at the White House — while former special counsel Robert Mueller was grilled by lawmakers.

As people tuned in to watch Mueller testify before two congressional committees about his probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and President Donald Trump's possible efforts to obstruct the investigation, the first lady was celebrating Christmas in July.

Melania, 49, baffled social media users when she took to her official FLOTUS  Instagram and Twitter accounts to share photos of herself going through fabric swatches and color patterns while picking out the holiday decor.

'Christmas planning has begun in the East Wing at the @WhiteHouse,' she wrote. 'I'm looking forward to sharing our final vision for this unique tradition in the coming months.'

In the photos, the former model is wearing a cream short-sleeve top with cuffed sleeves tucked into a matching pencil skirt.

Her highlighted brown hair is styled in loose waves, and she paired her all-white ensemble with sky-high nude stilettos. She wore minimal jewelry aside from her diamond wedding band that glittered on her finger.

The pictures show the first lady shuffling through fake flowers and fabric swatches as she begins the process of decorating the White House for Christmas — all while her husband's critics are calling for his impeachment.

In his testimony, Mueller stressed that his report did not exonerate Trump and said the president could be charged after he left office; however, Melania has made it clear that she has no plans of leaving the White House before December 25.

Many of the first lady's Instagram followers were quick to praise her for getting a head start on the White House Christmas decorations, but the reaction on Twitter was not nearly as merry.

'Sweetheart, I don’t think you’re still going to be living in the White House in December. Are you not listening to the Mueller testimony? "Yes, obstruction!"' one person tweeted.

'This is the saddest attempt at distraction I've seen in a while. No one believes you're planning for Christmas in July, Karen,' another added.

Someone else added: 'That ain't gonna distract us from #Muellertime #MuellerReport #MuellerHearings.'

Critics of the Trump administration took the opportunity to slam Melania for migrant children who are being detained in detention camps.

'You know what would be cool? If you decorated the halls of the White House leading to the Christmas tree with the personal belongings of the kids who your hubby is currently keeping in kiddie concentration camps on our southern border. Purses, rosaries, Bibles, photos... Cool!' one person commented.

'Are you going to head to the border to put garland around children’s cages? Maybe put out some gifts just beyond their reach?' someone else tweeted.

'What's the theme this year Malaria? Kids in cages?' another person asked.

Melania has a history of bad timing when it comes to promoting the White House Christmas decorations on social media.

People slammed the first lady when she unveiled the decorations on Twitter last November, just one day after children were tear-gassed at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Critics also took issue with her choice of decorations, which inspired a number of mocking memes last year.

The theme of this year's decorations remains unclear, but the first lady has been brutally made fun of for her 'creepy' Christmas decor two years in a row, so far.

Last year's theme was 'American Treasures,' and the color red played heavily in the decor, which included 14,000 crimson ornaments on 29 trees in the Grand Foyer and Cross Hall as well as 40 cranberry-covered trees that line the East Colonnade.

The White House said the choice of red was 'an extension of the pales, or stripes, found in the presidential seal designed by our Founding Fathers,' but many people saw the crimson trees in a different light.

Critics compared them to the red handmaids dresses worn by the women forced into sexual slavery in The Handmaid's Tale and the blood that flows down the hallway in the 1980 horror film The Shining.

Funny or Die created a spoof video of the unveiling of last year's decorations, complete with a voiceover of a faux Melania saying: 'Look at my trees soaked in blood, soaked in sweet blood.'
