Intermittent drizzle brings relief

Mangaluru: The intermittent drizzle on Wednesday brought some relief, but it kept the people, affected by landslips, on tenterhooks.
The hillock at Addepady and near Circuit House, where landslips occurred, were buttressed using sandbags, to prevent a further slide.
On Tuesday, the hillock near the Mangaluru International Airport exit road caved in on the road.
The continuous rain caused the mud slurry to flow on the road, causing a road block for villagers using that road.
The portion of the hillock near Circuit House was still unstable, and sand bags were used to support a weak portion, to prevent further deterioration of the hillock.
As on Wednesday, the district had received 40mm rain. On Tuesday it was 86mm of rainfall, with Mangaluru and Bantwal taluks receiving the highest rain at 58mm and 48 mm, respectively.
Puttur received the least rain at 28mm. Belthangady and Sullia taluks each received 31mm rain, respectively.
