AGRA: About half a dozen stray cows were found dead in a cattle shed, operated by a committee headed by the village head of Aligarh’s Cherat village on Tuesday evening. However, the administration confirmed the death of only three aged and weak cows, who were injured by violent bulls.
Confirming this, chief veterinary officer, Dr KP Varshney, said that a few violent bulls had badly injured five weak bovines just two days ago. While three of them succumbed to injuries, two of them were seriously injured and were being treated by a team of doctors.
He said, “now the violent bulls are being shifted to the forest land near the cattle shed to ensure that they don’t harm any more cattle inside the shed”.
He also confirmed that such incidents had been reported earlier too but not to this extent. Now, a permanent facility will be provided to them.
According to security guard of Baba Brahmdev cattle shed, Ramprasad, almost half a dozen cows have died till date. He, however, could not tell the reason of their deaths, but confirmed that all have been buried.

Dr Varshney said that this cattle shed was started with 84 cattle in December 2018 and till recently their numbers had gone up to 400. However, there are now only 353 cows in the shed.
Citing the reason for their falling numbers, he said that besides their death which was caused due to various reasons, a few of them ran away as someone opened the main door of the shed just one and a half months ago.
