Jaydeep Sharma being treated on Tuesday
AHMEDABAD: A 20-year-old man, a resident of Vivekanandnagar in Ahmedabad, has been left in a critical condition after he was assaulted by 12 persons over a dispute of rash driving on Saturday.
The man, Jaydeep Sharma, who works with a plastic manufacturing firm in Vatva GIDC, was assaulted by one Shailesh Rabari alias Tiger of Hathijan village in Daskroi taluka of Ahmedabad and 11 others. This happened after Sharma took objection to Rabari’s rash-driving, said a police official.
“Rabari allegedly tried to hit Sharma, who was riding his two-wheeler, with his car at Balkeshwar area in Hathijan after which Sharma asked Rabari to drive carefully. This did not go well with Rabari who later came there with others and assaulted Sharma,” said an official of Hathijan police.
Sharma’s cousin Mohit, 34, who has become complainant in the case of attempt to murder, said that Sharma was critical and admitted at ICU in a private hospital.
“We do not know whether he will be alive or dead. We are awaiting a miracle to happen. He has been kept on life-support system,” said Mohit.

According to FIR filed with Vivekanandnagar police on Sunday, Sharma was going towards his work-place when Rabari allegedly tried to hit him. Sharma called up his cousin Mohit and told him that he was being thrashed by Rabari and others near Balkeshwar. Listening to this, Mohit and Sharma’s mother rushed to the spot. But when they reached there, they found Sharma lying unconscious and bleeding from his legs and arms, reads the FIR.
Sharma was first rushed to LG Hospital in Maninagar where doctors diagnosed multiple fractures in his body. Later, Sharma’s family shifted him to a private hospital on SG Road.
