Class XI student hangs to death at home in Adajan

Surat: A class XI student committed suicide by hanging at her house in Neelkanth Nagar Apartment in Adajan late on Tuesday evening.
Laxmi Gupta, 15, returned from her tuition class on Honey Park Road at around 6pm. On reaching home, she went to her room and hanged herself with a pipe installed between two walls using a dupatta. One of her family members knocked the door as she did not come out for a long time. When the door was opened, they found her hanging and rushed her to a hospital. She died after brief treatment.
Meanwhile, Adajan police said it was not immediately known why Laxmi took the drastic step.
Sources said Laxmi was bright student and did not have any fight or arguments with any one on Tuesday.
An official of police from Adajan police station said, “We have recorded the statement of the girl’s parents, neighbours and other apartment people. But no one could suggest any reason for the suicide.”
“In fact, the CCTV footage of her tuition class shows her coming out in a jovial mood,” he said.
Laxmi’s father Ghanshyam Gupta has a shop in textile market.
The deceased also has a 13-year-old brother named Govind. Gupta also told police that none of the family member had any sort of argument or tiff with Laxmi. They did not even see her unhappy in the past few days.
