AHMEDABAD: A
Gandhinagar hotelier on Monday filed a complaint with Sector 21 police stating that he was beaten by three men for not providing a free room in his hotel to cops. The complainant, Mahesh Chaudhari, 45, a resident of Sector 27 in Gandhinagar, runs two hotels in Sector 16. He stated that two
cops had come to his hotel on Sunday night demanding a room. His
staffer told them that the room would be offered after receiving the payment of Rs 1,000.
The two cops went away but after a while three men rushed into the hotel and started abusing the hotel staffer. The staffer called Chaudhari. When Chaudhari reached the hotel, the three men abused him and thrashed him severely.
Later, the three men took him to Sector 21 police station where a cop ran out to see what was happening. The cop asked the three men why they had brought the hotel owner to the station. They said that he had disrespected the two policemen by asking for money so he needed to be taught a lesson. The cop from the station told Chaudhari to leave. But as Chaudhari had suffered injuries he went to Gandhinagar Civil hospital.
A medico-legal case was registered at the hospital and the complaint was transferred to Sector 21 police station which eventually registered a case of assault and criminal intimidation against the three men.
