AMC to set up effluent plant in Danilimda

The plan was initially suggested at the end of 2017
AHMEDABAD: The civic body will now set up a separate effluent treatment plant to treat toxic effluent from printing and dyeing units in the Danilimda area. The Ahmedabad hand screen printing association has collaborated with the civic body to set up a 30 million litres a day (MLD) treatment facility .
The state government has provided a grant of Rs 23 crore for setting up the plant.

In the coming week the AMC's standing committee will finalise the agency.
Frequent complaints from residents living alongside Kharicut canal, of toxic untreated effluent being let into the canal had been one of the primary reasons for suggesting a seperate CETP for the printing industry cluster. The plan was initially suggested at the end of 2017.
