Ranchi:
JVM-P on Wednesday said the Centre must reconsider its move of cutting the security of its president
Babulal Marandi, saying he still has threat to his life. Recently, the Union ministry of home affairs pruned the security detail of 130 VIPs across the country after a review.
In Jharkhand, Marandi was the only politician whose security was pruned. Marandi, the first CM of Jharkhand and four-time MP, enjoyed Z+
security cover. His security contingent had comprised CRPF personnel, including two officers and 10 jawans. Under the new arrangement, there will be one officer and five jawans deployed as his security. “There has been several assassination attempts on him. His son (Nunu Marandi) was killed by ultras. Very recently during the Lok Sabha polls, he received death threats ,” Tauhid Alam, the spokesperson of JVM-P, said.
