New Delhi: In a large-scale reshuffle of the bureaucracy, the government named Atanu Chakraborty as the new secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), replacing Subhash Chandra Garg, who will be the new power secretary.
In a notification late Wednesday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet also named Anil Kumar Khachi as secretary of the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), replacing Chakraborty.
In other changes, current power secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla will become an Officer on Special Duty in the home ministry “with immediate effect”, while Guruprasad Mohapatra will take over as the new secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Mohapatra, currently the Chairman, Airports Authority of India (AAI), will replace Ramesh Abhishek who retires on July 31.
Current secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Aruna Sundararajan also retires on July 31, and will be replaced by Anshu Prakash, currently additional secretary at the department. Another change in the DoT will see Anuradha Mitra, member (finance), take over as secretary, Department of Official Language.
RS Shuka will assume the role of secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, while GV Venugopala Sarma will take over as secretary in the National Disaster Management Authority.
Ravi Capoor will assume the role of secretary in the textiles ministry, filling a vacant position, while PD Vaghela will take on the position of secretary in the pharmaceuticals department.
Atul Chaturvedi will become the new secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying. He is currently additional secretary in the department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
