Baby dies under mysterious circumstances on Sua Road

Ludhiana: A 10-month-old boy died under mysterious circumstances at his house on Sua Road in Kanganwal on Monday evening.
While the infant’s maternal grandfather has accused his mother of killing him, the area residents said her live-in partner took his life. The infant’s mother and her live-in partner, however, told the police that he died of illness.
Kanganwal police post assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhwinder Singh said, “After calling her 7-year-old marriage quits eight months ago, the infant’s mother, along with her six-year-old daughter, eloped with a UP man. But after a month she left him for a Ludhiana man. Since then, she had been putting up with her live-in partner on Sua Road and gave birth to the boy 10 months ago.”
On Monday evening, the UP man called up the police, saying the infant has died under mysterious circumstances. “During the case investigation, the infant’s maternal grandfather accused his mother of killing him. We have recorded his statement. The woman’s live-in partner was at his workplace when the child died,” the ASI added.
The child’s maternal grandfather said, “The infant was living with us and was fine. Four days ago, my daughter took him along. How can he get sick suddenly and die. My daughter must have killed him.”

Sahnewal police station SHO inspector Inderjit Singh said, “The post-mortem will be conducted on Wednesday. It will confirm the cause of death.”
During preliminary investigation, the police found that the boy was unwell. “There is not even a fan in his house. It is suspected that the infant died of illness. We are, however, also probing the murder angel,” the SHO added.
