RAJKOT: A labour contractor at a ceramic factory and his friend were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly murdering a the
plant operator of the same unit and burying his body in government wasteland near Dhuva GIDC near Wankaner town of Morbi.
Police said that Pintoo Ganga Pal and his friend Rakesh Yadav were arrested for strangling Opvel Ceramic factory’s plant operator Anupsinh Bahadursinh Zala (34) on July 18 and burying his body. Pal told police that he decided to bump off Zala as he used to harass his wife. While Zala was a divorcee who lived alone in Mahendranagar, Pal was resident of nearby Rajpar area near Morbi.
According to police, on Monday some people found dogs digging out a body from the wasteland near Dhuva GIDC. Police exhumed the body and found that it was of Zala who had been missing since July 18. On investigation it was found that Zala was last seen with Pal and Yadav.
On questioning Pal, he confessed to killing Zala with held of his friend Yadav, said Morbi local crime branch police inspector V B Jadeja. “Pal, a native of Madhay Pradesh killed Zala as he used to harrass Pal’s wife quite often,” Jadeja said.
Pal told police that he and Zala used to work in the same factory. But after the factory closed down on July 17, he asked Zala to come along with him to find job at Dhuval GIDC. Pal, Zala and Yadav left for Dhuva GIDC on July 18 in search of job.
After roaming there for whole day, Pal brought Zala to an isolated ground near the GIDC and strangled him. Both Pal and Yadav also pounced on Zala’s chest and hit him with a boulder on the head to ensure that he died. They then buried the body and fled.
