NHRC warns against misuse of its name

Ludhiana: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in a communiqué to the district administration has warned against the use of its name and/or logo without their permission. Action will be taken against anyone violating this law, panel said.
Deputy commissioner Pardeep Kumar Agrawal said the NHRC has written a letter to the Punjab government stating that several sections of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act restrict the use of the name and logo of the rights body.
Agrawal said it has come to the NHRC’s notice that some societies and NGOs are using names or logos similar to that of the nation panel and its state counterpart, which is illegal.
