For record closure of unmanned level crossings, electrification

South Central Railway (SCR) has won a certificate of appreciation from Railways Ministry for the best performance in closure of all Unmanned Level Crossings (ULCs) and setting a record of sorts in electrification of the track.

Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi Channabasappa presented the certificates to SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya during regional function of 64th Railway Week Awards held in Ambala, Haryana. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Railway Board chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav were present on the occasion.

Mr. Mallya presented the certificate of appreciation in recognition of closing all UMLCs to principal chief engineer K.V. Siva Prasad and for the record electrification to principal chief electrical engineer A.A. Phadke at the Rail Nilayam on Tuesday.

The zone had 288 UMLCs as on April 1, 201, and when the Railways Ministry took a policy decision to eliminate all of them, the challenging task was taken up on a mission mode.
