- It matches the description of the Toyota RAV4 the pair were last seen driving in
- A man in Mantioba has reported seeing a young, bewildered and 'serious' looking man hitchiking in the area that night
- It is unclear if he was either of the teens, but police are setting up checkpoints
- Cops say the pair killed Chynna Deese, 23, and Australian Lucas Fowler, 24
- They are also believed to be responsible for the death of an as yet unidentified man who was found near their abandoned, burned out vehicle on July 18
Canadian police searching for the two teenage murder suspects have discovered a torched vehicle that matches the description of the one they were last known to be driving in a remote area some 600 miles from where they were last seen.
Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky were named on Tuesday as suspects in the murders of an Australian backpacker Lucas Fowler, 24, and Chynna Deese, 23, his American girlfriend, whose bodies were found in British Columbia on July 15.
Another man, who is yet to be named, was also found dead near the teenage boys' burned out vehicle.
On Monday night, before they were declared suspects, police released photographs of Kam and Bryer to say they were missing.
When they were declared suspects the next day, a gas clerk in the remote town of Split Lakes, Manitoba, called police to say she had served them at around 4pm on Monday.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, were spotted on Monday in Manitoba by a gas clerk who says they asked her where they could drink alcohol. She did not know at the time they were involved

The pair were last seen driving a silver Toyota RAV 4. It matches the description of the car found burned out on Tuesday but police will not yet confirm if it was theirs
She said they spent $20 on fuel and asked where they could buy and consume alcohol in the area where drinking is not allowed.
'The guy who paid for the gas — he was quiet, he didn't say anything, he was just looking down.
'They seemed like, I don't know, normal. I'm just so nervous right now thinking about it,' the clerk, Mychelle Keeper, told CBC.
On Tuesday, police in Mantioba found a burned out silver cake near the Bird reserve in Gillam.
They have not yet confirmed if it is the same vehicle the pair were driving - a silver Toyota RA4.
A man has also reported to police seeing a young man hitchiking in the area that night, seven hours after the gas station incident and after their photos were released for the first time by cops who, at the time, said they were missing.
'I seen (sic) a young man hitching a ride at this spot Monday 23:45 just before I turned on to the 280 to go to Gillam.
'Very strange to see a young white male hitching at this spot, at that time.

Shot dead: Lucas Fowler, the 24-year-old son of an Australian police officer, and his girlfriend Chynna Deese, from Charlotte, North Carolina, were found dead on the Alaska Highway last Monday
'He pounced out of the dark and looked desperate. He was not intoxicated and looked serious.

RCMP released a composite sketch of the man whose body was found around one mile south of burnt-out truck belonging to teenagers. They are suspected in his death too
'He actually startled me because of how he jumped out towards my truck with his thumb up. I had to swerve out of his way,' the man, named only as Barry, reported to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Mantioba.
Mantioba police will not confirm the sighting of the pair in Split Lakes nor did they respond to inquiries about the discovery of the car on Wednesday.
In a tweet, the force said it had established a checkpoint in the area.
'Manitoba RCMP has sent a number of resources to the Gillam area and an informational check stop is in place,' they tweeted.
Kam and Bryer's car was found 470 kilometres (290 miles) from Lucas and Chynna's bodies and the incidents were five days' apart.
It was burned out and abandoned.
Another body was found 2km (1 mile) near their vehicle but that person has not yet been named.
Police will also not reveal whether or not that man was murdered, or how he died, but they say the teens are wanted in connection with his death.
On Monday, when they still considered them missing, police spokeswoman Dawn Roberts said of the teenagers: 'Kam and Bryer have periodically connected with family and friends over the past week and it is possible that they are now in area without cell coverage.

Bryer is shown, left, in a recent social media picture clutching a bottle of vodka and with Kam, right, in a profile pic
'However, we have found their vehicle and have not been able to locate either of them at this time.

On July 13 at around 7.30 pm, the pair filled up their blue van at a petrol station and were seen embracing on CCTV footage
'We are asking for Kam or Bryer to connect with police right away and let us know you are okay.'
The pair have been friends since elementary school.
It is unclear how long they had been on the road.

Who exactly killed Fowler and Deese remains a mystery, with one witness claiming to have seen the couple having a 'heated exchange' with a bearded man last Sunday.
The couple's beat-up Chevrolet minivan was seized by police and was pictured for the first time earlier today with a blown out back window.
Witnesses to Fowler and Deese's final moments have came forward to tell of their final encounters with the tragic couple.
Some said they saw them having a heated discussion with a bearded man on the side of a highway.
It prompted police to release a drawing of the man but it is unclear if he is still considered a suspect in light of the two teenagers now being named as suspects.
