Veterinary experts will be discussing issues related to One Health, the collaboration of animal, human and environmental research for optimal health, opioid use, animal welfare, food safety, zoonotic disease, the latest technology and advancements in veterinary medicine and many other topics and trends.
Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, author of the New York Times’ best-selling “Zoobiquity” will present the Convention’s keynote speech about the amazing connection between animal and human health and what animals can teach us.
Another hot topic is the best way to fly with pets, and the AVMA has been closely working with several major U.S. airlines to develop a travel policy that is developed from the pet’s perspective and ensure airline travel is optimal for pet owners, pets and the airline. In addition to topics covering everything from genetic testing to integrative medicine, the AVMA’s leadership will be heading to Capitol Hill to meet with legislators.
