Rs 1,150 crore budget booster for Bundelkhand e-way

LUCKNOW: The state government tabled a supplementary budget of Rs 13,594 crore in UP assembly on Tuesday, signifying its emphasis on infrastructure development with allocations for Bundelkhand expressway, Purvanchal expressway and Ganga Expressway.
The government also gave budgetary thrust to development of Ayodhya and Vindhyachal to boost religious tourism in state.
The supplementary demands for current 2019-20 financial year were tabled by finance minister Rajesh Agarwal in presence of CM Yogi Adityanath. The government had tabled annual Budget 2019-20 of Rs 4.79 lakh crore on February 7. The supplementary budget is presented when the general Budget is not enough for government schemes.

Of Rs 13,594 crore, capital expenditure accounts for over Rs 5,200 crore, and Rs 8,300 crore for expenses. Infrastructural projects got a total of around Rs 2,100 crore, including Rs 1,150 crore allocation for Bundelkhand expressway, Rs 850 crore for Purvanchal expressway and Rs 15 crore for preparation of detailed project report for Ganga expressway. The allocation for the 294 km green-field expressway connecting Etawah with Chitrakoot bears out the government's focus on development of the backward Bundelkhand region.
It provided Rs 46 crore to be paid as interest on loan taken by UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority for the project.
