2020 Audi RS Q3 Sportback Aims To Be The Poor Man’s RS Q8

Audi is gearing up to introduce the Q3 Sportback shortly, but spy photographers have already caught the high-performance RS Q3 variant.

Like the standard Q3 Sportback, the model adopts a sleeker shape which helps to set it apart from the standard Q3. The biggest difference is a dramatic roofline which gives the crossover a more coupe-like appearance. The model also has a sportier greenhouse and a pronounced shoulder line.

The RS Q3 Sportback builds on these features by adopting a more aggressive front fascia with large air intakes that feature honeycomb mesh inserts. The crossover has also been equipped with large wheels and a massive dual exhaust system which is a hallmark of RS variants.

While it might looker sportier on the outside, the cabin should largely carryover from the Q3. That means we can expect metallic accents, high-gloss black trim and a 10.25- or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There should also be an 8.8- or 10.1-inch infotainment system.

This being an RS model, there should also be some sporty touches as well. Nothing is official, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the cabin was outfitted with a flat-bottom steering, carbon fiber and alloy pedals.

Like the standard RS Q3, the RS Q3 Sportback will ride on the MQB platform and feature a sport-tuned suspension and a high-performance braking system. The model is also expected to be powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces around 414 hp (309 kW / 420 PS). The latter will likely be paired to a dual-clutch transmission which sends power to a standard quattro all-wheel drive system.
