‘Tree man’, whom people once called crazy, plants 40,000 saplings

BANDA: Bhaiya Ram Yadav (55) is known as the ‘tree man’ in Bharatpur area of Chitrakoot. 14 years ago, people called him crazy but now the man has emerged as an inspiration for the people of the district.
In 2001, Bhaiyaram's wife lost her life while delivering her baby. His son also died due to lack of medical treatment when he was seven year old. Depressed, Bhaiya Ram left his house and started roaming around in Chitrakoot.
While roaming, he read a slogan written by the forest department: 'One tree is equal to 100 sons'. The slogan changed his mind and he came back home again. Bhaiya Ram made a hut outside a village and started collecting water from a nearby forest to water the trees. Initially people called him crazy but after sometime few villagers started supporting his cause.
Bhaiya Ram said that initially he planted 40 plants but after a continuous and constant drive the number reached up to 40 thousand saplings. He said that God has taken one son from him but now I am the father of thousands of plants.
The efforts of Bhaiya Ram haas made 50 hectares of Bharatpur land became beautiful and green. He made the unused land a forest with diversified range of useful plants and is continuing his efforts with full zeal.

Bhaiya Ram now wants to plant over 40 lakh trees. He said there is some problem of water in this area and if he gets a hand pump near his house then he will definitely accomplish this target.
