NEW DELHI: A job opportunity or the draw of a country’s culture and lifestyle can make the prospect of moving alluring. But relocating can put a dent in your finances in the initial few months of settling down. The 2019 Moving Index, a study of 85 cities, found which are the costliest cities to start afresh in.

METHODOLOGY
➤ To calculate the cost of relocation, the study assumes it takes three months to settle into a new city — one month in temporary accommodation and two months in a permanent residence.
➤ The cost of relocation is based on essential expenses like transportation, food and a new phone plan, in addition to storage expenses and rent at both the temporary and permanent residences.
