‘Pooja’ of pothole roads to draw NMC’s attention!

Congress committee activists' unique protest on potholed roads
NAGPUR: In a unique protest, the residents of Sangharsh Nagar and Chandmari in south Nagpur have performed ‘pooja’ of potholed roads in their locality. The protest was led by women Congress committee activists.
Avantika Lekurwale, a resident of the locality and president of the party (Kamptee rural) said the busy road between Sangharsh Nagar and Chandmari is in bad shape. “At least thousands of potholes have developed and with the scant shower that the city has received so far and the problems for motorists, especially two-wheeler riders have increased manifold,” she claimed.
According to Lekurwale, around 40,000 people live in this locality and use this road. Accidents have become a routine on this road patch, said another resident Vishwajeet Ramteke.
Despite repeated complaints to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, no measures were taken to repair the road. However, the NMC is concretizing good tar roads but ignoring the citizens’ demand, said Lekurwale in a memorandum submitted to additional municipal commissioner Ravindra Thakre.

Residents under the banner of Congress performed ‘pooja’ of the roads and also removed silt from there to highlight their plight.
Thakre assured to look into their demand at the earliest.
