UP man fails to open fire after locals start recording him on cellphones

AGRA: A major tragedy was averted in Bahadurgarh village of Hathras district on Tuesday morning after a man took out his grandfather’s licensed rifle and attempted to open fire on his opponents during a clash between two groups over a land dispute.
However, the accused, Anil Singh apparently got scared and did not open fire after he saw several people in the neighbourhood recording the clash on their cellphones. A video of this incident also went viral and police seized the weapon and arrested Anil’s father Bachhu Singh.
A hunt is on to trace Anil, who fled before the police arrived.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Siddharta Verma said that an FIR has been registered against four persons under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC at Sadabad police station. He said that further investigation are on.
It may be recalled that just a week ago, 10 people including three women were shot dead and over 24 others were injured over a land dispute in UP’s Sonbhadra district.
