Debbie Johnson, director of the Arizona Office of Tourism said that for the third consecutive year, all the major performance indicators of the tourism industry are at record highs. The parameters include visitor volume, visitor spending, employment and tax revenue.
The spending supported more than 190,000 jobs and the workers got paid U.S. Dollars 7.4 billion as per tourism office research.
Nearly 6 million visitors came from other countries last year. More than half of them came from Mexico. Germany was the top source of European tourists. The number of travellers from Australia increased by 15 per cent as against the previous year.
Tourism is one of the only industries that impact positively all 15 counties around the state as per Debbie Johnson. Arizona will continue to market their destination to the international visitors. As per a new report from the National Park Service, Grand Canyon tourists contributed more than U.S. Dollars 1 billion to the local economy in 2018.
