Painting exhibition underway in the city


A water colour painting exhibition was inaugurated at Modern Art Gallery in the city recently. This week-long exhibition, Aquarelle - The Voice of Colours, was inaugurated on Monday and will continue till Saturday. Ajay Kumar, a young painter who is a third-year art student at BK Art and Craft College in Khandagiri, is showcasing his water colour paintings in this exhibition.

As many as 40 artworks are on display at the gallery and all of them have been attracting large number of people. The young artist has expressed his feelings about nature and various stages of human beings with these paintings. “The use of water colour in paintings has been an old tradition and it’s a different form of painting technique, which this young artist has mastered so beautifully. All his paintings are reflection of something or other that we have been noticing in nature and in ourselves too,” said curator of the gallery, Tarakant Parida.
Former IT commissioner Dhirendra Kumar Ray inaugurated the exhibition, while Laxmikant Mohapatra, principal of BK Art and Craft College, attended as chief guest. Along with the guests, there were many students.
Besides, many art enthusiasts and artists visited the exhibition that is on from 11 in the morning to 7 in the evening. The exhibition is a great exposure for the young artist, who showcased his paintings to a good number of viewers and art critics. Modern Art Gallery has been organising many such exhibitions throughout the year to give exposure to budding artists.
